Silver Jubs feted; Habacon
Most Outstanding Alumnus

The Most Oustanding Alumnus for 2006, Sonny Matias E. Habacon, M.D, Class '81, (left) poses with two other Silver Jubilarians, Susan Balite-Nunez, M.D., Assistant Professor, Deparment of Pediatrics, George Washington Unit Medical Center Washington, D.C., and Voltaire E. Seares, M.D., Orthopaedic Surgeon, Bangued, Abra, Philippines. Dr. Habacon is Chairman of the Department of Phamacology and Associate Professor B, FEU-NRMF, President of the FEU-NRMF Medical Alumni Society, and Members of the Board of Trustees, Mary Johnston Hospital. The jubilarians were honored during the 27th Annual Reunion-Convention of the FEU-DNR School of Medicine Alumni Foudation, July 5-8, 2006, at the Westin Oaks in Houston, Texas.


Attending the FEU-NRMF Alumni Grand Reunion-Homecoming Dinner at the Sofitel Philipine Plaza Hotel in Manila, January 20, 2007, are alumni from various classes who are members of the Beta Sigma Fraternity. There were 426 alumni and espouses, 75 of them Silver Jubilarians, joined by jubilarians from other celebrating classes, who attended the festivities.

The newly elected alumni officers for 2006-2008, who were inducted Saturday, July 8, 2006 were: Front (L-R) Drs. Norberto Poquiz, Melinda Fabito, Marielou Ramos-Guzon, (Board Members), Pepito Rivera (President), Amante Legaspi (Chairman), Hernani Tansuche (Executive Vice President), Grace Rabadam (Treasurer) and Noli Guinigundo (Secretary). Back (L-R): Drs. Pete Florescio, Virgilio Jonson (Board Members), Manny Malicay (Vice President), Rogelio Cave (Vice-President), Cesar Jimenez (Auditor), Oscar Tuazon (Vice-President), and Abraham Perez (Board Member). D.; Azora Capuchino, M.D., Marian Eye-Center president; Paz Anacta, M.D.; and Rey de Vega, M.D., Director, FEU-NRMF Medical Center in West Fairview, Quezon City. Except for Dr. Nunez, the rest flew to Houston for the Philippines for this reunion-convention, where Class '81 were honored as Silver Jubilarians.

Chua, chairman of the board of thealumni foundation and board trustee of the FEU-DNR Medical Foundation, Amante Legaspi, president, Rolando Casis, past president, Marizon Ed Relucio and Renato Ramos, past chairmen. Also in the picture are Ramon Rono, board trustee, Marizon Relucio, Daisy Ramos and Jane Legaspi.

 

Former Philippine Corazon C. Aquino, assisted by Quezon City Mayor Ismael Mathay, Jr., and Dr. Josephine C. Reyes, FEU-DNRMF chairman, and the Rev. Monsignor Nestor Carino officiated the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony during the opening of the newly relocated Far Eastern University - Dr. Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation and its Medical Center in West Fairview, Quezon City, on November 8, 2000. With them are Philip S. Chua, chairman of the FEU-DNR-School of Medicine Alumni Foundation, and Renato Ramos, past alumni chairman.


The Philippine Panorama Magazine of The Manila Bulletin features the FEU-NRMF on its cover, with the members of the Boatrd of Trustees, at its relocation and innaugural opening of its new campus at West Fairview, Quezon City.
